Information collected
No information that identifies you is collected. The website requests no name, email address or account, and loads no third-party analytics, advertising or social-media trackers. Its pages are static and served directly to your browser.
Visit statistics
Only with your consent does the website maintain an anonymous count of visits and a breakdown of visitors' countries, together with an anonymous record of how the website is used: which pages and sections are reached, and whether the curriculum vitae is opened or downloaded. These records carry no identifier, are counted only as totals, and cannot be linked to you or to one another. The usage record is kept for 30 days and then deleted. The visit count and the country breakdown are running totals and are not deleted, because a total is a number that refers to no one. The approximate country is determined on the server from your network address, which is used solely for that purpose and discarded immediately; the website never stores, records or shares it. If you do not consent, nothing is recorded and your network address is not processed.
Information stored on your device
A small amount of information is stored on your device to remember your preferences, namely your display theme, your response to the consent request, and the date of your most recent recorded visit. It remains on your device and is not transmitted with any request. Further detail is provided in the .
Hosting
The website and the service that maintains the visit statistics are hosted on Microsoft Azure. The statistics service and its records remain within the European Union; the pages themselves are delivered from locations near each visitor, which may lie outside it. Microsoft processes requests on the author's behalf solely in order to provide the website, under data protection terms that include the safeguards the General Data Protection Regulation requires for such transfers. Technical error reports produced by the statistics service contain no information that identifies any visitor; they are retained for no longer than 30 days and are summarised for the author by email.
Lawful basis
The only optional processing, the visit and usage statistics and the associated country lookup, is carried out on the basis of your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation. You may withdraw that consent at any time by clearing the site data, after which consent will be requested again.
Your rights
As no information identifying you is held, there is no personal record to access, rectify or export. You may nonetheless:
- Withdraw your consent at any time by clearing this website's site data.
- Remove all information stored on your device through your browser settings.
- Contact the address below with any question regarding this policy.
